Our Story
Casa Joya is run by Mary and James, a husband-and-wife team who believe that true comfort comes from warmth, good food, and genuine human connection.
James is a chef with extensive professional experience, having worked as Head Chef and later Executive Chef in London, as well as at Quinta de Largo in Portugal. His cooking is honest, flavour-led, and always made using fresh, seasonal ingredients.
Mary worked for many years in IT, bringing organization, problem-solving, and attention to detail to everything she does. Today, she channels that experience into creating welcoming, well-run, and thoughtful spaces for guests.
Together, they created Casa Joya as a place they would want to stay themselves: unpretentious, relaxed, and deeply connected to the rhythms of rural life.
